Medal Meet Info

Happy Sunday,

It is hard to believe that we only have two weeks left of the season and medal meets are just around the corner!

All RSVPs for the medal meets will be due in Swimtopia at midnight on Saturday, July 17th at midnight.

What is a medal meet? Medal meets are the championship meets at the end of the season that all of the Greater Annapolis Swim League teams will be participating in. Swimmers participating in the medal meets will be competing against swimmers from all of the different teams in our league. There are three medal meets: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Who is eligible for a medal meet? In order to participate in a medal meet, a swimmer must have participated in at least 2 of our meets this season. Participation in the mock meet does NOT count, but participation in our inter-squad meet DOES count. There are time standards that swimmers must meet in order to participate in silver and gold meets, but no time standards for the bronze meet. A swimmer only needs to compete in a particular event once and get the qualifying time only once in order to be eligible to swim that particular event in the medal meet. The Greater Annapolis Swim League championship time standards for each event are attached to this email- so please take a look to see what your swimmer has qualified for! Both meters and yards time standards are attached. Bay Hills is a meters pool, but some other pools are yards, such as Severn River.

What happens if I qualify for more than one meet? You can only attend one medal meet and can only swim the events that you have qualified for. For example, if I swim at least two meets this season and have a gold time in butterfly and freestyle, a silver time in IM and breastroke, and a bronze time in backstroke, I can only choose one meet to attend. So if I choose to go to the silver meet, I can only swim IM and breaststroke. If I choose to go to the gold meet, I can only swim butterfly and freestyle. Ultimately, swimmers have the final decision in which meet they would like to participate in but we do encourage swimmers to attend the highest level meet that they have qualified for.

Swimmers will be able to compete in a maximum of THREE individual events. Bay Hills will also be having relay teams in each of the medal meets that the coaches will make.

Dates and locations of medal meets:

  • Bronze Meet will be at the Ulmstead pool on Wednesday, July 20th in the evening
  • Silver Meet will be at the Bay Hills pool on Saturday, July 23rd in the morning
  • Gold Meet will be at the Indian Landing pool on Sunday, July 24th in the morning

We will need parent volunteers for each of these meets so please stay tuned for information on volunteering.

All RSVPs for the medal meets will be due in Swimtopia at midnight on Saturday, July 17th at midnight.

Please reach out to [email protected] with any questions. We hope to see most of our team participate in the medal meets!
