Medal Meet Info

What is a Medal Meet? Medal Meets are the championship meets at the end of the season that all of the Greater Annapolis Swim League teams will be participating in. Swimmers participating in the Medal Meets will be competing against swimmers from all of the different teams in our league. There are three Medal Meets: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Who is eligible for a Medal Meet? In order to participate in a Medal Meet, a swimmer must have participated in at least 2 of our meets this season. Participation in the mock meet does NOT count. There are time standards that swimmers must meet in order to participate in Silver and Gold meets, but no time standards for the Bronze meet. A swimmer only needs to compete in a particular event once and get the qualifying time only once in order to be eligible to swim that particular event in the Medal Meet.

What happens if I qualify for more than one meet? You can only attend one Medal Meet and can only swim the events that you have qualified for. For example, if I swim at least two meets this season and have a Gold time in butterfly and freestyle, a Silver time in IM and breaststroke, and a Bronze time in backstroke, I can only choose one meet to attend. So if I choose to go to the Silver meet, I can only swim IM and breaststroke. If I choose to go to the Gold meet, I can only swim butterfly and freestyle. Ultimately, swimmers have the final decision in which meet they would like to participate in but we do encourage swimmers to attend the highest level meet that they have qualified for.

Swimmers will be able to compete in a maximum of THREE individual events, plus a relay. Coaches will create relay teams based on the number and make-up of the participants in each medal meet.

Dates and locations of medal meets:

  • Bronze Meet will be at South River Colony on Wednesday, July 19th starting at 5:30pm
  • Silver Meet will be at Bay Hills on Saturday, July 22nd at 8:30am
  • Gold Meet will be at Bay Ridge on Sunday, July 23rd at 8:30am

Please note - Meet sign-ups for all Medal Meets will close in SwimTopia at midnight on Saturday, July 15th.

Volunteering for the Medal Meets

The Volunteer sign-up for the Silver Meet is open - please DO NOT sign up for Timer yet as we don't know how many we'll need. We'll update that when we know more. Sign-ups for the Bronze and Gold meets will open soon. Please check SwimTopia periodically to see when they open.

Thank you all for such a wonderful, exciting season and summer! We are so proud our Team, and every swimmer.  Thank you to all of our volunteers for being the best parents in the league!
