IMPORTANT - Medal Meet Info

Attached are updated listings for Medal Meet qualifiers. Please review and decide in which meet your swimmer(s) would like to participate. The Bronze, Silver and Gold Meet Sign-ups close today at 12 noon. We are required to submit our line-ups, including relays, for these meets by 1pm today. Sorry for the rush, but once that deadline passes, we cannot make any additions to the meet line-ups.

Medal Meet Info is a Medal Meet? Medal Meets are the championship meets at the end of the season in which all of the Greater Annapolis Swim League teams will be participating. Swimmers participating in the Medal Meets will be competing against similarly-skilled swimmers from different teams in our league. There are three Medal Meets: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Who is eligible for a Medal Meet? In order to participate in a Medal Meet, a swimmer must have participated in at least 2 of our meets this season. Participation in the mock meet does NOT count. There are time standards that swimmers must meet in order to participate in Silver and Gold meets, but no time standards for the Bronze meet. A swimmer only needs to compete in a particular event once and get the qualifying time only once in order to be eligible to swim that particular event in the Medal Meet.

What happens if I qualify for more than one meet? You can only attend one Medal Meet and can only swim the events for which you have qualified for. For example, if Swimmer A swim at least two meets this season and has a Gold time in butterfly and freestyle, a Silver time in IM and breaststroke, and a Bronze time in backstroke, Swimmer A can only choose one meet to attend. So if Swimmer A chooses to go to the Silver meet, they can only swim IM and breaststroke. If they choose to go to the Gold meet, they can only swim butterfly and freestyle. Ultimately, swimmers have the final decision in which meet they would like to participate in, but we do encourage swimmers to attend the highest level meet that they have qualified for.

Swimmers will be able to compete in a maximum of THREE individual events, plus a relay. Coaches will create relay teams based on the number and make-up of the participants in each medal meet.

Volunteering for the Medal Meets

Since we are hosting the Bronze Meet, the Volunteer sign-up is open. We are still waiting for GASL to assign specific jobs for each Medal Meet. Once those are assigned, those Volunteer sign-ups will then be opened. Please check SwimTopia periodically for updates.
