Hello Barracudas...are we ready??!!!

Good evening Barracudas!

It’s hard to believe that summer is almost here, and our 2025 season of awesomeness starts next week!!!  To all of the new families and swimmers – welcome to the Bay Hills Swim Family!! To all the returning Barracudas – welcome back!! We hope you have all had a great year so far, and you’re ready to have some fun!!! And students & educators – finish strong, you can do it - you’re almost there!!!

Before we go any further, passing along a very important notice. If you still need to order a team suit, you must email JOLYN directly by email at [email protected] and reference Bay Hills Swim Team. Suits may take up to 4 weeks to deliver, and our first dual meet is Saturday, June 14th. All swimmers must have a Team suit to participate in meets, and if you use a cap, the cap must be the current Team cap. Swimming is like any other sport, and the Team suit is our Team uniform.

For our new Barracudas, please take some time to explore our Team website and take note of the practice schedule, the meet schedule, and our save the date pages. The last page is still under construction as there are many of the social activities and dates that have not yet been confirmed.

For everyone - age group practice times are tight, and we want to make the most of our time together, so we ask that you please be punctual and prepared. Be sure to have your suit, towel, goggles and cap ready to go. Swimmers are strongly encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottle. Swimmers sweat a ton and hydration is key!!!

For the 8 & Under age group, which includes 6 & Unders, we will start out the evening practice schedule alternating days. New 8 & Unders (and 6 & Unders) will practice Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Returning 8 & Unders will practice Monday and Wednesday evenings. We will maintain this schedule until AA County schools let out in June. There are no practices on Friday evenings until schools let out, and we will have one (1) Saturday morning practice (5/31) when both new & returning 8 & Unders will all practice together for the first time. This is a very large group of about 52, so we will be getting a little creative with our practices so we get the most out of our time in the water.  The morning practice schedule will begin the Monday after schools let out.

New swimmers of all ages will all be assessed for their ability to formally join the Team, by passing our minimum safety requirement. All swimmers must be able to swim one (1) length of the pool, unassisted – no exceptions. Unassisted means without help or assistance from any person, and no pulling on the lane lines or along the wall. The Coaches will be encouraging, developing and monitoring them during the first weeks of practice. Coaches will then make the final decisions after the Mock Meet, and will communicate directly with those that will not be able to continue. These are tough decisions for us, but it is absolutely for the safety of these and all our swimmers.

We look forward to seeing everyone next week. Please reach out with any immediate questions, and be on the lookout for information about Volunteering to come out during the first week of practice.

Have a great night Barracudas! Go Bay Hills!

Coaches Ana, Ella and Dean
