Severn River results, events this week and some info on Medal Meets
Good afternoon Barracudas!
WOW!! What an exciting meet that was!!! It all came down to the very last few races, and we did it! Final score - Bay Hills 253, Severn River 244. Like we say, "Every race, every place!!"
Great job everyone! Lots of personal bests and new medal meet qualifiers!!!! Thank you to our Volunteers, without whom we could not have had such a successful meet, and a big thank you to the Concessions Team! Another incredible day of great food and lots of fundraising for our Team!!!
This week - This week is going to be busy with lots of excitement! We are so excited to welcome 2 guest Coaches this week! Coach Matt Cribbs will be coaching butterfly on Tuesday and Coach Andrew Ward will be coaching with us Wednesday, doing freestyle. Thank you both for sharing your experience and talent with us this week!!!!!
Friday is Pancakes @ Practice, so swimmers be sure to swing by the pool pavilion after your workout and fuel up!!!
Saturday is our final dual meet for the season. The meet is against Indian Landing, at Indian Landing. The meet signup closes Wednesday at 5pm. More details to come out later this week.
Championship Medal Meets - This Saturday's meet is also the last opportunity for swimmers to qualify for the Bronze, Silver or Gold Championship Medal Meets. To be eligible for the Medal Meets, swimmers must have swum in 2 dual meets, and must meet the qualifying time standard for the individual event. Relays will be comprised of swimmers attending that specific meet. Swimmers can only swim in one (1) medal meet, and can only swim the events for which they qualify. The time standards are attached. You can also see what meet(s) your swimmer has qualified for in Swimtopia by clicking on the meet under Schedule.
Gold Medal Meet - swimmers must be faster than the published qualifying time for the event
Silver Medal Meet - swimmer must be faster than the published Silver Meet qualifying time AND slower than the Gold Meet time. In this example, the swimmer must be faster than 2:03.23 and slower than 1:42.34. If the swimmer has a time faster than 1:42.34, then they will have qualified for the Gold Meet for the event.
Bronze Medal Meet - swimmer must be younger than 15, and must be slower than the Silver Meet time. In this example, the swimmer must be slower than 2:03.23. If the swimmer has a time that is faster than 2:03.23, they will qualify for the Silver Meet for the event.
Please take time now to look for which meet your swimmer will qualify, and events your swimmer would like to participate. We must have our Medal Meet entries and line-ups submitted by Sunday 1pm, so we will be talking with swimmers and parents this week about the Medal Meet qualifying and event selection. If your swimmer is close to qualifying, and they would like to swim that event this Saturday at the Indian Landing meet, please enter them in the event for Saturday and include a note so we are aware. For the Indian landing meet, we want to both win the meet AND have as many swimmers get the chance to realistically qualify for the meet & events they want to swim post-season.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns, and we'll see you at practice!
Thanks!
Coaches Ana, Ella and Dean
